<li>Ask students to identify situations when it is difficult to stay on task at school.</li>
<li>Extend the learning by introducing the skill of Ignoring Distractions and its behavioral steps. Explain how this skill complements Staying on Task and how both skills can be used in school, at home, and in the community.</li>

<li>Discuss situations and then brainstorm ideas or strategies that can help them keep their focus or regain their focus if they get distracted. &nbsp;</li>

<li>Discuss situations when students have used both skills during the school week.</li>
<li>Ask students to make an entry in their SEL Journals describing how they stay on task at school or in the classroom and what specific actions or words they use to help them stay on task.</li>
<li>Pair students and have them brainstorm different strategies they can use to stay on task and ignore distractions in situations where they have struggled to do so in the past. Ask for volunteers to share their strategies with the class.</li>
